Kululu alternative: live photo wall, moderation and the clock

Credit where it is due. Kululu puts a real-time slideshow on all three of its plans, free included, and that wall is the thing guests remember. Photos appear on the screen seconds after somebody uploads them, which pulls more people into taking part.

With The Wedding Pics, the moderated slideshow starts on the Standard plan rather than the free one. If a live screen is your whole reason for doing this, that difference is worth knowing before you compare anything else.

How a wedding slideshow works in practice

A live wall and moderation belong together. Without approval, whatever a guest uploads is on the screen in front of your grandmother a moment later. Most of the time that is fine and funny. Occasionally it is not.

On the Kululu pricing page checked in August 2026, moderation tools are listed on the Pro plan, not on Free or Plus. The Wedding Pics includes moderation on paid plans alongside the slideshow. If you want a screen and a safety net, price the plans that have both rather than the cheapest plan on each site.

Kululu's plans are shaped around the event itself. Its free plan allows up to 50 uploads and stays active for 24 hours from the event date. Plus allows up to 500 uploads for one month. Pro is unlimited uploads for three months.

The Wedding Pics is shaped around keeping things. Starter allows three months of uploads with six months of storage, Standard six and twelve, Premium twelve and twenty-four. Neither approach is wrong. A 24-hour album is perfect for a party and a poor fit for relatives who upload the week after.

Comparing a free tier with a paid plan tells you nothing. Line up the plan on each side that includes a screen, moderation and enough time for late uploads, then look at the numbers.

Kululu listed Plus at $39 and Pro at $99 in August 2026, both marked as reduced from higher prices in a promotion, so check what is showing on the day you buy. The wall is over by midnight. The photos are not. Whichever service you choose, the useful question is how you get the files out and how long you have to do it.

Both products offer bulk downloads on their paid plans. Put a date in the calendar for the fortnight after the wedding, download everything, and copy it somewhere separate. With a 24-hour or one-month album, that deadline is much closer than people expect.

Get the originals somewhere safe

Whatever you pick, rehearse it. Open the slideshow on the actual screen or projector you will use, on the venue's connection, and leave it running for ten minutes. Upload a photo from another phone and time how long it takes to appear.

Then try removing it. If you cannot find the control in under a minute at home, you will not find it in a dark room during the first dance. Turn off notifications and sleep on the device driving the screen while you are there.
